Traveling With Your Pet

Hey you guys! Did you know that This Lil’ Dog of Mine has a pet taxi service? Well, we do, and we are always here to help with your local pet travel needs. Our life routines are ever changing, and that will sometimes require us to make adjustments to accommodate our pet’s needs. We understand that things come up, and that is why we exist; to help.

Let’s also talk about trips beyond the scope of our taxi service. Road trips these days are often the choice way to travel, and for longer trips, pets are tagging along for the ride. If you plan to take your pet with you, prepare to incorporate that properly. At the top of that list should be making sure you have their vaccination records on hand. One of the first things you do is pack for your pet’s comfort. Just like us, they want to feel the comforts of home when they are away. If you’re planning to stay at a hotel, you can even call ahead and make sure they are, in fact, pet friendly and what that entails. Taking frequent breaks is also a must. Your pet will want to stretch when being cramped up in a vehicle.

Another thing that frequent stops will help is car sickness. Yes, it does happen with animals, too, so be sure that they eat before your trip begins and feed them minimally during the drive. Ice cubes instead of large amounts of water also help. If you pet does not ride in your vehicle often, take a few practice to help them get acclimated. Most dogs love car rides but other animals may be nervous.

Whether you call us to take your pet on an unexpected trip to the vet or need advice on what your pet will need for a family summer vacation, we are here to support you! Travel for animals can get tricky. Preparation is key!
